Our curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the seven areas of learning from the EYFS.

Our group will be split into:

Buttercups (babies from 9 months)

We will be nurturing our tiniest learners to have a "home from home" experience, to feel safe and secure and be able to explore in a stimulating  and sensory way. There will be numerous opportunities to enhance their social and emotional development and build on their core physical strength. We will be building up a love of books and musical appreciation as well as the arts and physical strengths. The baby's home routine will be followed at nursery by excellent staff who have profound compassion and understanding of your baby's needs..

Daisies (Toddlers)

Our Toddlers, who often have a mind of their own will be respected and their interests followed and encouraged, in order to provide wonderful enriched experiences. This will ensure that they will develop at a rate that is keeping with what makes them happy and is the quickest pathway to success. They will be offered a rest period after lunch.

Sunflowers (3 - 4 year olds)

Our children have a desire to self manage activities and as they grow older learn to become independent, self regulate, cooperate, engage in team building and to become more aware of numeracy and literacy, which is done in a fun, hands on way.  We will be building up relationships with feeder schools and will be welcoming them into our nursery and before your child goes to reception we will send a report to the school to ensure they settle as quickly as possible.

Overview

By following their interests and watching the way in which they play, allows for wonderful enriched experiences to take place, through the seven areas of learning.  We use in the moment planning as well as have structured opportunities for the children, if they wish to engage with them. We pay particular attention to Communication and Language which is embedded in everything we do. Being physically active and being able to take risks is one of the many skills your child will learn. For the younger ones, that will involve lots of crawling, cruising and climbing. Learning about Personal, Social and Emotional well being, will give your child lifelong skills. Our passion for literacy, dance and movement will be incorporated in much of what we do, together with visiting our local woods and shopping for ingredients for cooking is all part of our fun day.  We look forward to sharing with you all their experiences, through our weekly newsletters and the online Tapestry Journal as well as in depth feedback at collection time.
