Our Setting
Our Setup
Each area of the nursery is bright and airy and has an abundance of resources that are regularly changed around. All resources are at the children’s heights, to encourage the children to make their own choices. The children are seen moving freely around the area, using the space to engage, learn and develop. The children also play in our well resourced playground which encourages them to play, climb and imagine. We are fortunate enough to have an undercover awning which means the children never need to get wet when outside. During the warmer weather we spend as much time as we can outside. During the day as well as being in their own aged peers, the children also mix with the other age groups at appropriate times of the day.
Buttercups (9 months – 23 months)
We nurture them to become familiar with their surroundings, feel safe and secure and be able to explore in a fun and sensory way. There will be numerous opportunities to enhance their social and emotional development and build on their core physical strength. We build up a love of books and musical appreciation as well as the arts and physical strengths. The baby's home routine will be followed at nursery.
Daisies (2 years to 3 years)
The toddlers often have a mind of their own and are we respect them following their interests and encourage them to do so to provide wonderful enriched experiences. This ensures that they will develop at a rate that is keeping with what makes them happy and is the quickest pathway to success.
Sunflowers (3 years to 4)
Our children have a desire to self manage activities and as they grow older learn to become independent, self regulate, cooperate, engage in team building and become more aware of numeracy and literacy, which is done in a fun, hands on way. We will be building up relationships with feeder schools and will be welcoming them into Gan On The Hill. Before your child goes into reception we will send a report to the school to ensure they settle as quickly as possible.
By following their interests and watching the way in which they play, allows for wonderful enriched experiences to take place, through the seven areas of learning. We use in the moment planning as well as have structured opportuniites for the children, if they wish to engage with them. We pay particular attention to Commuincation and Language which is embedded in everything we do. Being physically active and being able to take risks is one of the many skills your child will learn. Learning about Personal, Social and Emotional well being, will give your child lifelong skills. Our passion for literacy, dance, movement will be incorporated in much of what we do, together with visiting the local woods, shopping for ingredients for the weekly cooking class is all part of a fun day at Gan On The Hill.
We look forward to sharing with you their experiences though our weekly newsletters, online via Tapestry Journal as well as in depth feedback at collection time.
